Mental health services for children and teens
Military Kids
As a former military kid, veteran, and now military spouse with kids of my own, I have a special place in my heart for the military community. I have experienced separations, deployments, and the additional stressors military life throws at you from numerous perspectives throughout my life. I am very familiar with the hardships that kids must endure within this lifestyle, as well as the many positive experiences they get to enjoy. I believe military kids are able to gain a unique resiliency through necessity because of their lifestyle. Unfortunately, often times this form of resiliency resembles the “suck it up” mentality which can lead to mental health issues. Learning resiliency through healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, and social skills are some of the things I help provide to military kids. Military life can be especially hard on teens and having someone outside of the family to talk with can help reduce their emotional burden.
