Mental health services for children and teens
Group Therapy
This is a skills group where teens learn DBT skills like emotional regulation, social skills, and how to handle a crisis. We go through topics such as stress management, time management and organization, relationships, and how to advocate for yourself and others. Peer support is a huge component of this group and allows teens the ability to practice skills, model behaviors, and offer each other support. Different approaches are incorporated such as art therapy, games, role-playing, and other various forms of therapy to help make the topics more relatable and fun. The occasional field trip helps teens to feel included, try new things, practice skills in the real world, and allows for a mild form of exposure therapy.
You do not need to be in individual therapy to join group. You will have to do an intake (1 hour) prior to joining though to get you set up in the system and ensure you are a good fit for the group. Group is offered as continuous enrollment so there is no specific start/end date and no long-term commitment.
