Mental health services for children and teens
Client enrollment
After we've made contact, you will receive an email invitation to sign up for a Portal account. Within the portal there will be several electronic documents that will need to be filled out prior to your intake appointment. You will also receive a welcome letter via email that you will need to sign giving your consent for treatment. If your kiddo is 13 or older then they will also receive an emailed request to sign that same document. I am always happy to answer any questions that arise during this process.
Other useful information
Initial session
For children under 13, I prefer that the first session only include the parent(s)/guardian(s). This is so parents can be open and honest about what is going on, without having to worry about their child hearing any sensitive information that may need to be discussed.
Teens age 13+
In the state of Washington, kids ages 13 and up have full control of their mental health. This means they will need to sign a release of information for their parent/guardian to be able to speak with me. This is standard practice based on the law and not something specific to me. See more information here.
Telehealth
I do offer telehealth as needed. However, I have found that working with children/teens in person is the most beneficial method for treatment. Telehealth can be used in leu of a last minute cancellation to avoid charges, but not as a long-term therapy option.
In Office
I am seeing clients in person. I take extra precautions to keep everyone safe, such as disinfecting the space in between clients and wearing masks when requested.
COVID
If you are experiencing any COVID related symptoms, please stay home. Please follow all CDC guidelines if you test positive for COVID or if you are exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID.
